The honorable Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency in the Upper West Region of Ghana and retired senior Police Officer, Supt. Mr. Peter Toobu Lanchene (Rtd) has opined that being too religious makes one poor.
According to the retired officer who was the Executive Secretary to the then Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu, anyone who over prays as a Christian but makes little efforts to work becomes a hypocrite and poor person.
“When you over-pray and under-work you become a hypocrite and a friend to poverty,” the lawmaker wrote on facebook.
Peter Toobu is part of the new faces in the Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin-led 8th parliament after resigning voluntarily from the Police Service to contest for the Wa West seat on the ticket of the opposition NDC which he has since won with a huge margin.
He became NDC’s spokesperson on security during the 2020 electioneering period, talking on policies in the NDC’s manifesto which have to do with security.
