A police officer who was exciting a bullion van and a witness have been shot dead by suspected armed robbers at Korle-Bu in Accra, GhanaVanguard.com can report.

The driver of the bullion van has also been shot and badly injured.

According to a report sighted on MyJoyOnline by GhanaVanguard.com, the bullion van which is said to be transporting a huge sum of money, was followed by the suspected armed robbers in a taxi and on a motorbike.

The robbers opened fire on the bullion van when it reached a less populated area, killing the police officer on board.

One other person, who was a 40 years old mother three was also shot dead. She was said to be hiding in her shop when a bullet fired towards a lady who running away, hit her in the neck.

The driver of the van who survived but seriously injured was however, rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for medical attention while the lifeless bodies of the other two victims have, according to reports, been deposited at the Police Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
