Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu Constituency of the Northern Region, Hon. Alhaji Bashir Alhassan Fuseini, popularly known as A.B.A Fuseini has asked if the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor is courageous enough to go after his party’s national and regional executives who are involved in the illegal mining activities in the country.
According to him, there are a lot of executives of the party including the party’s national women’s organizer who are all involved in the illegal mining business. This he believes will require Hon. Jinapor to gather more courage to deal with the party executives in the galamsey business.
Speaking on Pan African TV last week, a program GhanaVanguard.com monitored, the Sagnarigu lawmaker said: “…he’s being sent to arrest a furious hungry lion with his bear hands.”
“I am wondering wheather he can…tackle party chairmen from the national level to the regional level, even including party women’s organizers who are doing galamsey.
NPP party chairmen, party general secretaries, party women organizers; all of them are involved in galamsey. I’m wondering wheather my brother Abu Jinapor will have the courage to tackle all those people,” he continued.
Meanwhile, the lands minister said last week that the government will deal with all manner of persons involved in galamsey regardless of their political color.
“The laws would have to be applied and it must be applied fully. There should be no consideration for the law, whether you are a NDC member or NPP member, or you are this or that,” Hon. Jinapor said.
