Former government appointee in the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama’s administration who served as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokore Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Nurudeen Hamida has cautioned Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin to not dare contest Mahama in the 2024 presidential primaries.
According to Mr. Nurudeen, John Mahama is the best person who can lead the NDC again in the 2024 general elections which may see Vice President Dr. Bawumia or Alan Kyeremanteng who is popularly known as Alan Cash, contesting for the presidency on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He believes that if Alban Bagbin contests John Mahama for the 2024 flagbearership, the chances of the NDC winning the 2024 presidential election would be ruined as he [Alban Bagbin] may not be appealing to the party’s grassroots.
He noted that the former Nado-Kaleo lawmaker is privileged to be elected to the position of the Speaker of the 8th Parliament and that he should concentrate on running the affairs of the august house rather than thinking of bringing himself to the fore to contest the 2024 presidential primaries.
“If he has been privileged to be elected as Speaker of Parliament, he should concentrate in Parliament and leave the presidential race to the former president to take NDC to the Promised Land in 2024,” he indicated in a political program on Akoma FM which GhanaVanguard.com monitored.
Mr. Nurudeen further suggests in his submission that the NDC will not sit aloof to watch Alban Bagbin come forward to contest the party’s next presidential primaries.
“We will fight Alban Bagbin if he dares contest John Mahama,” he stated with seeming bitterness.
