The Deputy Director of Communications at the Office of the Vice President, Mr. Maxwell Krobea Asante has advised the Minister for Works and Housing and Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Mr. Francis Asenso Boakye to focus on the affordable housing projects which were started by President Kuffour, rather than the Saglemi Housing Project that former president Mahama started.
According to Mr. Maxwell, it will only be “politically wise” for the housing minister to give maximum attention to the housing projects started by NPP government rather than Ssglemi
He believes the President Kuffour-initiated affordable housing project is of national benefit unlike the Mahama’s Saglemi Project which he says is “restricted” to only one region, the Greater Accra Region.
“Please finish with the NPP affordable housing projects first before you address saglemi.
The Kufuor houses are national and not restricted to a region. It is politically wise to work on that first for all to benefit,” the presidential staffer wrote in a facebook post sighted by GhanaVanguard.com.
The Saglemi Housing Project has once again caught media attention after a video of the completed and abandoned apartments was circulated by the businessman and former presidential candidate, Dr. Hassan Ayariga.
Hundreds of the completed apartments have not been put to use after years of completion. This has drawn condemnations to the ruling government which many believe is not doing enough to complete the project totally for people to start occupying.
