Former Education Minister and 2020 running mate to Former President John Mahama, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has revealed that she is still active academia despite her being involved in active politics.
According to her, though she doesn’t go to lecture theatres to lecture students, she does other equally important works such as; assessing students’ research papers and sharing views on anything academic in the university which she once led as a Vice Chancellor.
She indicated also that she was able to finish working on research papers submitted to her by her last PhD student in November last year, just a month to the 2020 general elections which saw her actively involved as a running mate to the candidate of the biggest opposition party, John Mahama.
“Actually I didn’t take a break as in moving completely away from Academia. In fact, my last PhD students submitted her final document in November, and before the elections, of course… but I was able to finish it for her…,” she revealed to JoyNews’ Emefa Apawu on ‘The Probe’ last Sunday, June 6, 2021.
“You know, your department needs help and if you can offer the help, why not? I don’t teach us in taking folders to the lecture Theatres. But if it is, in terms of maybe looking over a program, giving your view, assessing a paper, there are many things we do besides teaching. So I have been active in that area,” she indicated.
