Lawyer and Senior Vice President with IMANI Ghana, Mr. Kofi Bentil has hit back at the judges of the apex court of the land, Supreme Court after they gave a directive to Dr. Kpessa Whyte, a witness to John Mahama in the ongoing 2020 election petition to appear next time in court wearing suits.
According to Bentil, the advise given to the University of Ghana lecturer by judges is a clear indication that people in the country are still been controlled and glued to colonial traditions which will in no way do the people any good.
He added that what was seen in the Supreme Court today amounts to thinkings that keeps the nation moving backwards.
“SUIT??? What the hell!!! This is the thinking which keeps us backward!!!,” Mr. Bentil wrote in a short facebook post.
Lawyer of the petitioner, Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata has however, condemned the advise of the judges as he also sees no reason why the witness’ dress code should be discouraged.
He told the judges to not use their opinion as to what should be worn to court to harass Dr. Kpessa Whyte.
