Leader of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) and maverick businessman, Dr. Hassan Ayariga, has condemned the country’s security agencies for allowing Vice President Dr. Bawumia, IGP Dr. Dampare and others to visit the scene of the Apeati explosion.

The Vice President, IGP and few other government officials, were today, Friday, January 21, 2022, at the scene of the incident to have a first hand information about the disaster, and also to access the extent of damage caused.

However, Dr. Ayariga saw the move as “unprofessional and not safe” for the veep and others to have access to the scene just a day after the explosion which claimed 13 lives, with dozens still on admission at various hospitals.

According to him, the place should have been critically assessed and declared safe before anyone is allowed to visit.

The two times presidential candidate is of the view that there could be undetonated explosives at the site. This, he believes make the site unsafe for the veep, others to visit.

“It was unprofessional and not safe for our vice president and government officials to hurriedly visit the explosion site.

The security experts and other security institutions should have declared the place safe before allowing people including our Vice President to visit the place because there could be a possibility of another explosion due to the level of chemical content involved . It wasn’t right to have allowed any body to go there,” he wrote on his Facebook wall.
