Franklin Cudjoe, Founding President and CEO of IMANI Africa, one of the finest policy think-tanks in Africa said the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah should resign from her post as soon as the final verdict on the ongoing election petition is given.
According to him, the EC chair is unfit for the job and is no longer trusted by millions of Ghanaians as she could not lived up to expectations of Ghanaians.
He noted that the team of heavily armed soldiers that provide security to the EC chair whenever she turns up for court is an indication that she feels unsafe due to the distrust Ghanaians now have in her.
“We need to move on. If I were the EC, I’d resign after this court hearing. It is not healthy to be distrusted by millions of Ghanaians and be guarded by loads of soldiers each time they are going to work. Frankly, I was wrong.
My own former boss at the IEA isn’t cut out for the EC job. Many forget I was the only CSO leader to publicly hail Mrs. Mensa’s appointment as EC for several months.
I had extensive phone conversations with her on what minefields she must navigate…but alas she was taken,” Franklin stated in a social media post sighted by GhanaVanguard.com.
The venerable social commentator further gave a friendly advise to Jean Mensah to return to the Policy Think-tank industry.
According to him, Jean Mensah who once head the Accra based Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) is good at handling such institutions other than the Electoral Commission.
“I want the real Mrs. Jean Mensa, my former boss back doing what she knows best – think tanking,” he added.
