President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has directed the Minister for Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh to get into talk with authorities at the Ghana Education Service in order to have something done about the ‘harsh’ punishment meted out to students who were seen in viral videos insulting the President and destroying school properties.

The President’s directive came after several educationists and groups such as NUGS demanded a re-look at the punishments the 14 students were handed with.

In a press release sighted by, the President acknowledged the fact that what the students did was intolerable but added that their dismissal from their respective schools is enough punishment and therefore their ban from partaking in any WAEC organised examinations should be nullified.

President Akufo Addo further added that everyone deserves a second chance in life so the dismissed students should be allowed to take part in the ongoing WASSCE examinations.
