President of the republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has appointed Rear Admiral Seth Amoama to serve in acting capacity as the Chief of Defense Staff.
The two star Naval Officer will replace Lt. Gen. Obed Akwa of the Ghana Army whose duty tour will come to an end of February 5 after serving in the Ghana Armed Forces for more than three decades.
Until his appointment, Rear Admiral Amoama was the Chief of Naval Staff.
He would however be replaced by Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu as the Chief of Naval Staff in acting capacity.
“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appointed the Chief
of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama, to act as Chief of Defence Staff,
effective Friday, 5th February 2021, pending consultation with the yet-to-be-constituted
Council of State.
President Akufo-Addo has appointed, with effect from Friday, 5th February 2021, Rear
Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu to act as Chief of Naval Staff, also pending
consultation with the yet-to-be-constituted Council of State. Rear Admiral Yakubu, until
his new appointment, was the Chief of Staff at General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed
