Ace television show host and presenter with the Accra-based TV3, Johnnie Hudges says the lead counsel for President Akufo Addo’s legal team in the ongoing 2020 election petition, Lawyer Akoto Ampaw should put his wig up for sale at the end of the petition.
According to Johnnie, the worn-out wig which is always worn by the lawyer whenever he appears in the Supreme Court is as old as the lifespan of the legal carrier of Akoto Ampaw. He believes the time is now for the venerable lawyer to retire the wig.
“Lawyer Akoto Ampaw must auction that wig after this petition is fully heard. The wig could be as old as the man’s career. Whew,” he jovially wrote on facebook.
Meanwhile, during proceedings in the Supreme Court yesterday, February 15, 2021, one of the seven justices, Justice Marful Sou told Akoto Ampaw to change his wig as the justice claims the wig has lost its identity.
“Mr Akoto Ampaw, I think you have to change your wig, it has lost its identity as a wig,” Justice Sau said.
In response; lawyer Ampaw said the wig he has been advised to change gives him a unique identity in his law profession which spans more than two decades. His response was after he removed the wig, took a critical look at it and put it on.
“My Lord, it gives it a unique identity,” he said amid laughter.
