Former President and flag bearer of the opposition NDC, John Dramani Mahama has blamed society and the failing institutions for the gruesome murder of 90 years old woman accused of witchcraft in Savannah Region.
President Mahama is condemning the barbaric incident, questions the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Unit Committee Members, Assembly Members and the Police as they are mandated to ensure such incidents do not happen in our societies.
“Where were our Assembly Members, Unit Committees, the BNI and the Police when it mattered most?”, Mahama asks.
Mahama further called for those responsible for the barbaric act be used to set examples to deter any persons which atrocious minds from committing crimes of this sort.
Three days ago, 90 years old Dente Akua was lynched to death in the full glair of the public after she was accused by a soothsayer of witchcraft in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.
According to reports, the soothsayer who is at large currently accused the woman of being behind the underdevelopment of the Kafaba community where the woman lived.
This however, made the woman to be subjected to beatings which subsequently led to her death.
No arrest has since been made. However. A GHS 2000 bounty has been placed on the head of the Yeji based soothsayer who is only known as Selina.
