Virgil Abloh died of cancer at age 41.

Founder and CEO of the popular clothing brand Off-White, Virgil Abloh, has died, the family announced Sunday, November 28, 2021. He was 41.

The fashion designer, who until his death was the Artistic Director of Menswear at Louis Vuitton, according to the family, died of cancer which he was diagnosed with in 2019, and lived with it secretly till his demise today.

Who is Virgil Abloh?

Virgil Abloh was a Ghanaian from the Ewe ethnic group. He was born on the 30th September, 1980 to Mr. Nee Abloh and Eunice Abloh in Rockford, Illinois.

He founded his fashion company Off-White in 2012 and became the Artistic Director of Menswear at Louis Vuitton in March 2018. He started his fashion carrier with rapper Kanye West in 2009 when they both interned in a fashion company in Chicago.

He’s survived with his wife, Shannon Sundberg and their two children.

Tributes have since been pouring in when the news of Abloh’s death hit the fashion world shockingly.

French football Kylian Mbappe, reacting to the death of Abloh said in a tweet sighted by this portal, that the world will never forget the impact the fashion icon had on many people in the world.

“…No one will forget the impact you had. God bless you my friend,” the footballer tweeted.
