Nigerian lawmaker, Pan Africanist and Human Rights Activist, Hon. Shehu Sani has consoled Ms. Samia Nkrumah, daughter of the late African hero, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah after she lost in the recently ended Jomoro constituency parliamentary race as an independent candidate.
Samia Nkrumah who was once the Member of Parliament for the constituency lost to Madam Dorcas Affo-Toffey, a first time contestant who run on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She managed to poll a total of 10,529 votes whiles the NDC MP-elect polled a total of 24,356 votes with the candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Essien polling 19,889.
Reacting to the defeat that has been suffered by Samia, Hon. Shehu Sani who is a senator representing the people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Kaduna State of Nigeria indicated in a social media post that he called Samia to congratulate her although she has not won the race.
According to the senator, he congratulated Samia because her name and the family she comes from is far bigger than the Jomoro parliamentary seat which she could not win.
“Samia Nkrumah contested the Ghana Parliamentary elections as an independent candidate and lost. I just called her to congratulate her, because her name and family are bigger than the seat she lost. Africa will forever remain grateful and proud for the contributions of your father to the total liberation of the continent. YOU WILL LIVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY,” he wrote in a social media post sighted by this portal.
