The Brooklyn-based professional basketball team of the National Basketball Association (NBA), Brooklyn Nets, have observed a minute of silence in show of solidarity with victims of the shooting in Brooklyn, New York.
The silence moment was held before the start of the teams’ tonight game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Barclays Center.
On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, a young man, dressed in an orange vest, threw a teargas canister into a crowd of passengers, and just as the gas started spreading, he opened fire and injured dozens of them who were waiting to get on a train.
The injuries emanated from bullet wounds, inhalation of the gas as well as the physical effects of extreme panic.
According to the New York Police Department, the attack was carried out by a heavily-built black man who is currently being pursued by authorities.
However, as at the time of filing this report, none of the victims is said to be in critical condition, and also, none of the victims is said to have succumbed to his or her injuries and died.
