Personnel of the Ghana Police Service in the Techiman Municipality of the Bono East Region have today, January 29 fired several warning shots to disperse a charged crowd of youth who attempted to set an accident vehicle ablaze.
The brouhaha erupted after a Techiman bound O.A VIP bus with registration number AS 8219-19 killed a 20-year old motorist when the driver was dangerously overtaking another vehicle on the Techiman-Kumasi highway.
According to reports, the accident happened at about 6pm on Thursday, January 28 when the yet to be identified young cashew trader was returning from a business engagement.
The victim was pronounced dead hours after he was on admission at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital.
The latest incident could not be looked over by the youths of the area as they stormed Techiman-Kumasi highway, set numerous tires ablaze to register their anger.
The police were however, called in when the angry youths advanced to burn the VIP bus involved in the accident. They, after few hours of going back and forth with the youths managed to calm the situation.
The remains of the victim has since been deposited at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital morgue.
