Founding member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Chief Executive Officer of Volta River Authority, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby has alleged that President Akufo Addo’s visit to two European countries; France and Belgium, is for him to canvas for economic aid.
President Akufo-Addo was in France yesterday, May 18, 2021 to attend a summit hosted by the French President, Emmanuel Macron. The submit was held to discuss post-COVID-19 economic recovery for African countries.
But for Dr. Wereko-Brobby, president Akufo-Addo, whom he described as a “visionary” leader championing the ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ agenda, was in Paris soliciting for economic aids.
“The #GhanaBeyondAID ‘VISIONARY’ Is Abroad Clasping His BEGGING_BOWL
FROM #Berlin TO #Paris
STILL THE WHITEMAN’S BURDEN ?
#Who_C.A.R.E.S ? !,” he wrote on his Facebook wall.
However, Dr. Brobby’s comment has been justified as Ghana secures a €170 million facility from the European Investment Bank for the establishment of a development bank in Africa or for any developmental projects on the African continent.
The agreement was reached during President Akufo-Addo’s visit to Belgium where he met and discussed with President of the European Investment Bank, Dr. Werner Hoyer on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
