Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF), the secessionist group which is championing the secession of Volta and Oti Regions and part of; Upper East, Northern and North East regions to form an independent state of Western Togoland has directed the government of President Akufo Addo to make public the names and photographs of persons who are currently in custody for their involvement in secessionism in the Volta Region.
24 persons are currently standing trial and are in custody for their involvement in recent disturbances that hit the Volta Region.
It is however believed that there are a lot of people in police custodies in the country with offenses related to involvement in secessionist activities.
In a social media post which was sighted by GhanaVanguard.com, the secessionist group wrote; “Ghana must publish the names and pictures of all who have been arrested so far in connection with the ‘so-called’ secessionist tag!”
Reasons behind the demand made by the HSGF to government is still unknown as no much details were given by the secessionist group.
