Will Smith banned from Oscars for 10 years

Will Smith banned from Oscars for 10 years:- American actor, Will Smith, has been given a 10-year ban by The Academy, organizers of the Oscars Awards, for the unfortunate event that rocked the recent Oscars Awards night.

During the 94th Academy Awards Ceremony which was held on Sunday, March 27, 2022, Chris Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinett Smith. The joke didn’t go down well with Smith, and as a result, he walked up stage and slapped Chris Rock in the face.

His action was condemned by many and also hailed by others who think he did that out of love for his wife, Jada.

Though Smith apologized to Chris Rock and the Academy after the slapping incident and even resigned from the academy few days later, he got banned from attending all events of the Academy either in person or virtually. The ban came almost two weeks after the incident.

“The 94th Oscars were meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community who did incredible work this past year; however, those moments were overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior we saw Mr. academymith exhibit on stage,” part of the letter announcing the ban reads.

“Today, the Board of Governors convened a meeting to discuss how best to respond to Will Smith’s actions at the Oscars, in addition to accepting his resignation.” the letter continued.

“The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.” the letter stated.

After the Will Smith banned from Oscars for 10 years news came, fans of the actor have since been reacting to the Oscars’ ban on Will Smith on microblogging platform, Twitter.
