Over the past months, appointees of president of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo have been touring the achievements of the president and the government he heads.
Some of the appointees including the Minister for Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku-Prempeh go to the extent of comparing the NPP government to that of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s Convention People’s Party (CPP).
However, this comparison does not go down well with Sekou Nkrumah who is the last born of the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
According to Sekou, there is no sense in comparing the ruling NPP to CPP as the era in which CPP thrived is not the same as the era in which NPP is thriving.
Sekou further added that CPP can be compared to United Party (UP), a party from which the ruling NPP is born as they both thrived in the same colonial era.
The NPP and CPP comparism engaged in by the appointees of Akufo-Addo forced the leader of the oppostion NDC and Presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama to take a swipe at the party and its leader, president Akufo-Addo.
…this useless government and you compare yourself to Nkrumah?…
part of Mahama’s comment reads when he was addressing chiefs of Ashaiman in Accra over the weekend.
