A former Minister for Tourism and later Ghana’s Ambassador to Czech Republic in the late Professor Mills’ administration, Mrs. Zita Benson says the Supreme Court justices who are hearing the ongoing 2020 Election Petition are biased and all having predetermined minds.
Her comment comes after the apex court of the land, on Monday, February 22, 2021 unanimously dismissed the petitioner, Former President Mahama’s application for review of a ruling that the case cannot be reopen just for the lead counsel of the petitioner to subpoena Jean Mensah, the Chairperson of the 1st respondent, Electoral Commission of Ghana.
The former diplomat however sees the numerous unanimous dismissal of John Mahama’s applications as an indication that the seven justices handling the case are biased and have an already made minds.
“Ghanaians have unanimously agreed you are a biased bunch with predetermined mindsets not out to deliver justice,” Zita Benson wrote in a facebook post sighted by GhanaVanguard.com.
Zita Benson also wonders why all the seven justices vote the same way without any instances of any of them voting in favour of any of the applications filed so far by the petitioner. She believes that though the justices are doing same thing, they should atleast have slight differences in opinion.
“Unanimously United team fuo. Even twins have difference in opinion and thinking,” she stated.
She claimed further that Ghanaians have resorted to launching at the law bench which she said is “broken” because of the posture of the nominated and duly sworn-in justices of the Supreme Court.
“Ghanaians are laughing at the broken bench,” she claimed.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has set Thursday, March 4, 2021 for final judgement on the election petition case brought to it by Former President Mahama.
