Frank Vogel has been sacked by Los Angeles Lakers after the NBA team could not perform as expected in recent times.
The 46-year-old coach, Frank Vogel, was sacked on Monday, April 11, 2022 after being in charge for three seasons, and winning a major championship title for the team.
“Frank is a great coach and a good man. We will forever be grateful to him for his work in guiding us to the 2019-20 NBA championship. This is an incredibly difficult decision to make, but one we feel is necessary at this point,” Lakers’ Vice President of operations, Rob Pelinka, said in a statement sighted by Ghana Vanguard.
Reacting to his dismissal, Frank indicated that he hadn’t been officially informed about his dismissal from Lakers.
“I haven’t been told sh**. I’m going to enjoy tonight’s game. We’ll deal with tomorrow, tomorrow,” Frank told pressmen.
However, Frank’s dismissal has sparked mixed reactions from fans of the team.
Some fans hail the move while others are of the view that he should have been given some time to get things to work. Others too believe the coach should not have been sacked alone, but with those who he worked with such LeBron James.
On-air radio and television host, Wirlsonair, suggests that the entire management of the LA Lakers should be disbanded, and a new management team formed to steer the affairs of the team.
“Now let go of management for putting that trash roster together and hold the roster accountable. Ya scapegoated Frank Vogel all year,” he tweeted.
Another fan on twitter believes the teams poor performance should not be blamed on the coach, but rather the injuries the players suffered, and also, LeBron James, for putting up a “week” team.
“Not Frank Vogel fault at all…his players were either injured or underperformed all season. I blame Jeanie Buss for letting LeBron (sic) put that weak ass lineup together,” Darnel twitted.

@Lakers The Lakers wouldn’t have had a good year no matter who the Coach. I can’t stand Rob Pelinka . He says Frank Vogel is a great Coach, but he gets fired, because of injuries, which any Coach would have had a losing season! It’s not Frank Vogel’s fault the Lakers sucked!

@Lakers you realize that this debacle was not all Frank Vogel’s fault. You need to light some sage and take the whole organization to group therapy. I am so disappointed in all of you. 🙄

Rob Pelinka and Kurt Rambis having more job security than Frank Vogel is baffling

I didn’t say anything about them being good. Frank Vogel is a moron who can’t coach and yes they were hurt. I don’t assume injuries are going to happen tho. KAT stays healthy and still his biggest achievement is a play in birth lol

Frank Vogel’s firing is a life lesson
Sometimes you will be the scapegoat when you’ve done nothing wrong due to one’s lack of consistency/accountability
