Former Deputy Information Minister and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Youth Employment Authority (YEA), Pius Enam Hadzide, has revealed that President Akufo Addo is the only president in Ghana’s history to use a small convoy.
The host of Newday program on TV3, Johnny Hudges suggested in Wednesday, January 12, 2022, edition of the show that the president needs to reduce the size of his convoy in other to reduce government expenses.
Johnny Hudges made the suggestion when discussing with his panelists comment made by MP for Okaikwei Central, Hon. Patrick Yaw Boamah, that government needs to cut down on its expenditures in order to justify imposition of new taxes.
Reacting to Johnny Hudges suggestions, the NYA boss posited that the president uses the smallest convoy in the history of Ghana.
He explained that the president’s convoy appears to be long because whenever he [president] is on the move, other dignitaries too join the convoy.
“The president Convoy is not long. He has the shortest Convoy in our history. Akufo-Addo? No, no, he doesn’t like it at all.
Look, what happens is that when the president is traveling, along the line, many people join, so they are not part of the president’s convoy,” he stated on the Newday program monitored by GhanaVanguard.com.
When asked by the host, the number of cars the president’s convoy is made up of; Mr. Hadzide could not make any disclosures, citing security concerns as a reason.
“Well, I’m not allowed to talk…this is a national security matter…I cannot disclose it, but I’m well aware of it…,” he indicated.
